Media awards task

write mini-reviews of your THREE favourite films and to post them up onto your coursework blog for the final lesson before half term (Friday 20/10).

Don't forget to consider all aspects of media language - cinematography, mise-en-scene (CLAMPS), sound, editing - using as much media terminology as possible (don't forget to highlight keywords); and also consider the film's use of genre conventions, how it will appeal to audiences (including dominant/oppositional readings), its use of narrative structure/roles, etc. Essentially, you should be applying all you've learnt on the course so far.

Click

This clip had a lot of different shots to make it more creative instead of having a continuous one. for example there was over the shoulder shots, zoom ins, medium shots e.t.c. At the start of the clip before the guy falls over he clicks which is related to the title of the video creating suspicions on why he has done that certain action. This video appeals to the audience as it makes us wonder why everyone has stopped moving and why only one person is still moving. This makes the viewer want to carrying on watching so they can find out what hes going to do with this, whether its for good or bad. the cinematics which have been used to make this effective is powerful as everyone has frozen and they coffee which was balancing creates amazement within the audience. the sound affects which were used (digetic sound) made more of an impact with the story line and the moment. the sfx of the gun shots were creative as it took a lot of skill to purpose and they've made it realistic. The main character began to use his supernatural skill to defeat evil and to solve a crime. There's different types of lighting e.g they used lowkey lighting for the dark and violent scene where the guy is bleeding and high key lighting for the actions so everything is visible.

Call me spartan

The music was parallel with the video footage as they were hooded people doing gang signs which follow the lyrics. They also hid their faces making it seem more demonic and scary as they're presenting these thugs as scary people. there wasnt any pure light in the clips but mainly dark scenes showing that theyre not good people and makes it more intense as there's alot of lowkey lighting hiding features which could show theyre hiding who they really are. i think this a crime type video as there's aggressive music which refers to drugs and violence and group of thugs. the oppositional reading to this video is that young people tend to associate with gangs, violence, and drugs which displays them to be bad and a problem to society. Also, people from rough backgrounds or estates for example are negative people and dont care about others. This starts to make everyone stereotypical to youth and treat them differently as if they all are bad for the society. The dominant reading of this could be that they're just making a music video to fit their music genre so it is parallel. Also, it could also mean they're doing this to outgrow what they've been grown into and want to get out of the area to live better and this is the only way how they can. The transitions were good and flowed as it was in time with each lyric.
Euphoria
. the voice overs in this video were good as it narrated the scenes which gives more impact to the sequence. the overlaying of videos sync with the music as it
. the music is Parallel to the footage of raving otherwise its contrapuntal throughout.
. the makeup which was used of the fake blood made the video look more serious as it slowly showed the blood coming out more as it was shown inbetween clips to make it look realistic because she might be remembering what she did.
.made it look real as its a day of someones life.
.displays a message that a normal person can be effected by drugs and how harmful it can make someone from being energetic and now ill or in a problems.
.has flashbacks meaning the person is remembering everything in their life and why theyve ended up here.
