Blade Runner 2049 Film Trip - Details & Homework

Image
A terrific film. Despite it's slow pace, the film flew by. I was completely astonished this film was in excess of 2 and half hours. An intelligent noir style thriller that engages the brain. The visuals are absolutely stunning as is the sound. The non digetic sound created a big impact on the film as it made it feel more real as if i was there. Blade Runner 2049 falls far short of the original in the storyline.  The overwhelming use of CGI in blade runner 2045 version doesnt enhance the sense of future reality, but rather makes it look like a comic book animation as more holograms are used making it look unrealistic. The art directors went a bit over board with the backgrounds as they either seem too big or unrealistic. i agree with the viewers to extents as some parts of the film was irrelevant. The creativity within the film of the art design was amazing but shouldn't have certain props in which ruined the film. the film wasn't as good as the first one ...

Cinematography video feedback/learner response

WWW: Good opening -blur fades Good use of filters - colour correction Good editing Range of shots (correctly named) Good use of music  Some attempt of narrative Music follows the montage EBI: Aspect ration - needs to be wide Use only one font  Avoid amuiture editing  Jerky pan Should have done a full minute Use a DSLR to record for better quality Add more of medium shots  Colour change was a bit distorted. slow down the shots My Reflection: i should plan what im going to shoot so its a narrative. get a better quality camera. dont use silly editing skills. make sure the video is wide.

Moonlight Film Review

1) Chiron doesn't speak too much as he has been getting judged by what he says and does. This is also influence by his mums drug addiction and that she used to verbally abuse him at a young age which scared him. He lacks eye contact for a long time as he feels  scared or awkward. His body language connotes that he isn't a confident person meaning he tried to keep his head down and doesn't want to trouble anyone but it comes to him no matter what. 3) Juan was like a father figure to Chiron as he tried to help him through early stages of his life and when his mum became a drug addict. Juan tried to influence Chiron not to be put down by people and tries to make him feel normal about being gay to make him comfortable about his sexuality. 4) the filmmakers did this as its quite a peaceful and isolated place to be at night meaning people can be in their thoughts near the beach or be left alone. Also it takes Chiron back to the time where Juan helped him swim and made he fe...

Film & TV Language: Cinematography blog tasks

Image
Being able to confidently analyse camera shots and movement is essential for media textual analysis and may well be required in both media exams (e.g. TV drama or music video). Your cinematography blog tasks are as follows: Find the  opening sequence  to a film or TV drama of your choice on YouTube and e mbed the video in a blogpost called 'Cinematography blog tasks'.  1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence.  Highlight your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons. There's a medium tracking shot at the start scene of this film which is of the 2 males. After that there's a long shot tracking the 2 males showing their clothing which gives an impression of what type of people they could be, along with a blurred out over the shoulder shot of a woman starring at them. There's multiple Medium shots as it shows their expressions and body language in full lengt...
